About the Artist

Bio

Sabrina Fraser is a Tauranga-based contemporary artist whose abstract landscapes are inspired by the textures, colours, and changing light of the natural world. Working intuitively with layers of acrylic paint and mixed media, she creates works that explore atmosphere, memory, place and subtle traces left by time.

Fraser has exhibited in both New Zealand and Australia, and her work is held in private collections across both countries. Her paintings have been selected as finalists in national art awards and are known for their rich surfaces, sense of calm and connection to landscape.

Statement

So much of what ends up on my canvas starts outside in nature. I love to spend time walking through forests, exploring mountains and wandering beaches. Soaking in the beauty and restorative energy found in such places.

My paintings evolve with no planned outcome. I work intuitively with layers of acrylic paint, mixed media and various tools - some unconventional. I create works that convey a feeling, evoke a memory and bring a calm energy into the spaces they live.

My painting practice is where creativity becomes a means of reflection and healing. Through my work, I invite viewers to slow down, reflect, and form their own connection to the land and nature.
